Remember your Creator in the days of your youth

Ecclesiastes 12:1,Remember your Creator
in the days of your youth,
before the days of trouble come
and the years approach when you will say,
“I find no pleasure in them”—

Youth is the time when one undergoes a lot of inner turmoil/struggles and also a time of experimentation. Students after completing education in school go to college into an atmosphere where there are no boundaries. They feel like birds released from a cage. Today’s time is one where there is no age difference in stepping into sin, and every luxury is available in your fingertips. It is available in the palm of our hands. This very things is like a warrior horse of sin. Hence, we should be careful and observe caution when making use of the technology. In Ecclesiastes 11:9, this is what is written about youth, You who are young, be happy while you are young,
and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth.
Follow the ways of your heart
    and whatever your eyes see,
but know that for all these things
God will bring you into judgment.

In Ecclesiastes 11:10, we read, So then, banish anxiety from your heart
and cast off the troubles of your body,
for youth and vigor are meaningless.

1 Timothy 4:12, 12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Apostle Paul also says the same about caution in youth. Dear children of God, pay attention to your words and the walk of your life. When the mind keeps running towards the various pleasures and selections, be careful what it is you select. Instead of becoming a role model for someone, it is much more blessed to be someone whose way of life prevents someone from sinning.

In the Bible there are several examples about young people who kept their faith despite being in an alien nation. Daniel 1:3-4, Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring into the king’s service some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility— young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king’s palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians. These young men received rich food and wine from the king’s court. Young Daniel and his friends refused to accept them since they believed it would defile them. Even though the circumstances were unfavorable they did not give in. We can read in the Bible that the young men receive heavenly help due to their unwavering faith. Daniel and his friends were rescued from the pit of fire. Daniel himself was saved from the den of lions. Young Joseph was sold away as a slave by his own brothers. Joseph was bought by Egyptian chief, Potiphar. Seeing his youth, Potiphar’s wife tried to seduce him into sin. Even though Joseph knew very well that if he gives in to the temptation he will receive many riches and power, he refuses in the isolated situation.

Ecclesiastes 12:13, Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the duty of all mankind.
This verse clearly says how the conclusion is. He also gives a warning. In Ecclesiastes 11:10,…for youth and vigor are meaningless.

The author Solomon clearly says in youth remember the Lord or you will fall astray. If you go astray you will fall into the pits of sin. If you steps falter in your youth it affects not only your present but also your future. May our Lord who has said ‘I am the way, the truth and the life’, guide your way as well. It is natural to have confusions and religious conflicts during the youth. When Potiphar’s wife seduces him into temptation, Joseph refuses her and asks her ‘ How can I sin against my Lord?’. This should be possible by every youth. No matter where you are , if you desire the presence and blessing of God with you always it is important to follow statutes of God.

Joshua 1:8-9,Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
