Why should God have the first place in our lives?

The Lord is not just the Creator of man. He is also our Redeemer. How??

1.The Lord is our Creator: Every one is aware of how creation came to be. It does not need much explanation. The word of God teaches us that from nothing He created the creation that we see today. He looked upon what He had created was happy with it. He then created man in His own image and and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. He gave man authority over everything He had created. He then created a woman as helper to man. He had forbid them from one thing which was the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge. Genesis 2:16-17,16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” Our first parents violated the instructions. The sly serpent(Satan) deceived Eve through the temptation of the eye and of power. Even after committing the mistake they did not seek repent or ask for forgiveness. Eve put the blame on the serpent and Adam put the blame on God’s appointed helper, Eve. In short, they indirectly were placing the fault on the Lord Himself.

Lord had created man in His image with the same glory and radiance. Due to their sin they lost this. Romans 3:23, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,.. Our merciful Lord did not abandon Adam and Eve in that condition. He made plan to deliver man.

2.The Lord is our Redeemer: We have often heard that when someone is abducted, he/she is released in exchange of ransom or a person the abductor asks for. It is not possible to redeem a sinner by a sinner. Only a Holy person can redeem a sinner. Who then is Holy?? The Son of God.

The Lord decided to sacrifice His only Son to redeem us from our sins. Romans 3:24, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Jesus redeemed all those who believed in Him through His sacrifice on the cross. 1 Peter 1:18-19, 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

1 Corinthians 19-20, 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Since He has bought us for a price, He has authority over us.

In our daily lives we give importance to several things. All those are things that can be destroyed. When we stand in comparison its surprising to see that we are highly blessed than those who are much more capable than us. Eg: Long life, healthy body, luxuries in life, etc. We are blessed with these not because we are deserving but due to the grace and compassion of God. Think where is the position of Lord in our lives ? Where is He in our life, the one who cares for us each second of our life and delivered us from our sins??

Should we give priority to God in our lives. Think. Even though we are sinners He loves us all. We are in debt to Him in two ways: in His love for us He made us His children. John 3:16, 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Secondly, He redeemed us from our sins. We do not think about these two debts. We should always remember this. The Lord who is ever patient, merciful and compassionate delivered us from sins. Ask your conscience, where should God be in your life? Think and then carefully decide. Do not delay, tomorrow is not in our hands.

1 John 2:2, He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

1 John 1:7, … the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
